Detailed Historical Chronicle & Foundations
Born in Ghazni (c. 1009 CE), Abu al-Hasan Ali al-Hujwiri traveled extensively across Syria, Iraq, Azerbaijan, and Khurasan in pursuit of sacred knowledge. He was instructed by his master, Sheikh Abu al-Fadl Muhammad al-Khuttali, to settle in Lahore. He constructed a mosque outside the city walls and authored Kashf al-Mahjub (Unveiling of the Veiled), the earliest Persian systematic exposition of Tasawwuf and Islamic orthodox spirituality. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti performed spiritual seclusion (Chilla) at his tomb before beginning his mission in Ajmer.
