Detailed Historical Chronicle & Foundations
Born at Kot Kehror near Layyah in 566 AH (1170 CE), he journeyed to Khurasan, Bukhara, Baghdad, and the Hijaz. In Baghdad he was initiated by the supreme master Sheikh Shahab al-Din Abu Hafs Umar al-Suhrawardi (author of Awarif al-Ma'arif), who granted him Khilafat within seventeen days. He established an immense Khanqah and academy in Multan which attracted scholars, traders, and spiritual seekers across Central and South Asia.
