Surah Ar-Rum 30:21
"And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought."
The 5 Mandatory Pillars of an Islamic Marriage
For a marriage contract to be valid under classical Islamic law (Shariah), all five conditions must be fulfilled.
11. Mutual Consent: Free, voluntary consent from both the bride and the groom without compulsion.
22. Wali (Guardian): Presence and agreement of the bride's righteous guardian according to Shariah.
33. Two Upright Witnesses: Two sane, adult Muslim witnesses hearing the formal contract exchange.
44. Mahr (Dower): Mandatory gift granted by the groom exclusively to the bride as her sole property.
55. Ijab & Qabul: Clear, unambiguous spoken offer and acceptance in the presence of all parties.
